Celebrating Earth Day, How The Tartan Label is making a difference

Today I want to share something close to my heart as it is Earth Day – our commitment to protecting our beautiful planet through our 'Protect Our Planet' initiative. Since October 2023, just after our launch, I decided to dedicate at least one day each month to focus on activities that make a positive impact on our environment. From planting trees and cleaning up local rivers to hanging birdhouses and planting flowers for our buzzing friends. It’s our ongoing commitment to sustainability and eco-conscious living, and I’m proud to say that it’s become an integral part of who The Tartan Label are as a brand. I believe that by taking regular and consistent actions, we can make a lasting difference and inspire others to do the same.

At The Tartan Label, it’s not just about creating stylish and cosy recycled wool tartan blankets; we’re also deeply passionate about sustainability and making thoughtful choices that have a positive impact on the planet. So, in honour of Earth Day, I want to take you on a journey through some of the meaningful activities that are involved in as part of our 'Protect Our Planet' initiative.

Planting Our Plantable Swing Tags and Thank You Cards 🌱

Firstly one of the ways we’re adding a touch of green to the world is by planting our plantable swing tags and thank you cards. That’s right, these little tags and cards are embedded with wildflower seeds, so instead of throwing them away, you can plant them and watch them bloom into beautiful flowers. It’s our little way of giving back to Earth and encouraging you to do the same!

Hanging Bird Houses 🐦

Birds play a vital role in our ecosystem, and we want to ensure they have a safe and cosy place to call home. That’s why I’ve been busy hanging birdhouses in our local community. It’s a simple yet effective way to support local wildlife and enhance biodiversity in our area.

River Clean Ups and Litter Picking 🌊

Clean water is essential for all life on Earth, and TTL are committed to doing our part to keep our rivers and waterways clean. I’ve organised a couple of river clean-ups and litter picking events to remove trash and debris from our local rivers, ensuring they remain a healthy habitat for aquatic life.

Planting Flowers for the Bees 🐝

Bees are crucial pollinators that play a vital role in our food chain, and their numbers are sadly declining due to habitat loss and pesticide use. To support our buzzy friends, I’ve been planting bee-friendly flowers in our community, providing them with a rich source of nectar and pollen to thrive.

Long Walks to Admire Nature’s Beauty 🌳

Sometimes, the simplest things can have the most profound impact. Taking long walks to admire nature’s beauty, and taking the time to appreciate the wonders of the natural world around us. It’s a great reminder of why it’s so important to protect and preserve our planet for future generations.

So, as we celebrate Earth Day this year, I encourage you to think about the small changes you can make in your daily life to have a positive impact on the planet. Whether it’s planting a tree, picking up litter, or supporting sustainable brands like The Tartan Label, every little bit helps.
