A Sustainable Fashion Journey

Our journey began during my time at Heriot-Watt University, where I immersed myself in the world of fashion technology. Despite the allure and glamour of the fashion world, I couldn't ignore the environmental impact of fast-fashion and throwaway culture. This realisation led me to create a fashion brand that not only celebrated style but also cared deeply about the planet.

Researching sustainable materials and ethical production methods leading me to discover recycled wool, a resourceful and eco-friendly fabric with a rich history. The decision was made to specialise in creating beautiful tartan blankets from this recycled wool.

Tartan, a pattern associated with heritage and tradition, became the canvas for our sustainable fashion story. Breathing a new life into this classic pattern by creating modern, eco-conscious blankets and home accessories. Each piece carries not just a unique design but also a commitment to reducing the fashion industry's carbon footprint.

The heart of the company lies in our dedication to recycling. We collaborate with textile recycling facilities, rescuing discarded wool materials and giving them a second chance. These materials are transformed into luxurious tartan blankets, which form the basis of our collections. The transformation from trash to treasure is a testament to our commitment to sustainability.

I’m proud to say that The Tartan Label makes a positive impact on both the fashion industry and the planet. Each product we create is a labour of love and is meticulously hand finished. This ensures not only a beautiful finish but also a reduced environmental impact. 

Our journey is just beginning. We continue to innovate, exploring new ways to reduce waste and minimise our carbon footprint. We are dedicated to spreading the message of sustainable fashion far and wide, inspiring others to join us on this important mission.
